Rotary Club of Abbotsford President Sara Lawson presented outgoing UFV President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mark Evered with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship this past week stating, “I am so pleased to be able to honour Dr. Evered with a Paul Harris Fellowship not only for his friendship to our club but in recognizing his tireless dedication to UFV, Abbotsford and the surrounding area. He truly is a community champion!”

Incoming Rotary President and UFV Alumni, Stacey Irwin, who shared in the presentation noted that, “Dr. Evered is an amazing example of vocational success and leadership! He lives the Rotary Four Way Test every day and has given so much of himself to the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and the communities where the university is rooted. President Mark Evered has been instrumental in the evolution, advancement and leadership of UFV within the Fraser Valley, local cities and beyond these past eight years. His leadership, expertise, knowledge, unwavering support, and energy has improved our community for the better. UFV is fully engaged in its community assisting businesses, the economy, education, youth, athletics, not-for-profit, community events and fundraisers in a number of capacities. Dr. Evered has taken positive steps to ensure that UFV is part of our community’s fabric and culture. UFV is a true community partner, champion and builder with thanks to Dr. Evered’s leadership and tenacity.  In addition we also know that Dr. Evered would not be able to do all he does without the loving support, care and strength of his lovely wife Maureen who has affectionately been referred to as UFV’s First Lady!”

Dr. Evered and his wife Maureen in a note to the club expressed these sentiments. “Many, many thanks for receiving this honor and we both feel truly recognized in such a wonderful way as we embark on this new chapter of our lives. Grateful and truly surprised, thank you!” Reflecting on Dr. Evered’s much-deserved award President Lawson said, “their presence at UFV and in our communities will truly be missed.  The members of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford wish them both many happy and healthy years ahead.”
