 IN CELEBRATION OF 70 YEARS OF SERVICE IN OUR COMMUNITY

 

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford will launch, in 2020, a new significant community capital project to benefit current and future residents of Abbotsford.  

 

To elevate the impact of our community service, we are seeking a locally-based charity partner. This partner will help support the delivery of the project and be the primary recipient of our Club’s fundraising and media initiatives.  We are also calling on like-minded individuals in the community to join us in delivering this milestone community project by becoming sponsors and/or members of our club. 

 

 

INFORMATION ABOUT US

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford is a dedicated, dynamic and diverse group of leaders, offering fellowship, fun and a shared commitment to serving humanity locally and around the world. We were chartered in 1950, and today we are over 50 members strong. 

 

We are proud of our many local accomplishments as a service club, as we:

  • Initiated and supported the founding of Rotary Stadium, Abbotsford’s top outdoor sports & entertainment facility; 

  • Initiated the founding of Abbotsford Air Show, one of the top air shows in the world;

  • Paid off The Abbotsford Hospice Society building’s $200,000 mortgage;

  • Raised $200,000 for the children’s wing of the new Abbotsford hospital;

  • Raised $200,000 for the Holmberg House (hospice) on the Campus of Care;

  • Partnered with Abbotsford Food Bank to create Starfish Backpacks, a program now filling over 230 back-packs with food for needy elementary school children every week during the school year;

  • Donated $200,000 in equipment & furnishings to Abbotsford Regional Cancer Centre;

  • Built and funded Rotary House – a pre-school for children with disabilities;

  • Active in Rotary International’s initiative to eradicate polio from the world.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A CHARITY PARTNER

  • Alignment with Rotary core areas of focus, which is preferred and includes the following:

    • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

    • Disease prevention and treatment

    • Providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene

    • Maternal and child health

    • Basic education and literacy

    • Economic and community development

  • Fundraising capacity and track-record of significant project delivery

  • Media  expertise (including social media)

  • Volunteers to participate in joint charity & Rotary fundraising activities

  • New fundraising projects that Rotary can help collaborate with and elevate 

  • Scheduled written and verbal reporting on project progress



 

OUR CLUB’S COMMITMENT

 
  • A 3-5 year partnership

  • Significant annual fundraising through existing and new events and programs

  • Use of Rotary branding and the associated profile it brings through traditional and social media, and community relations 

 

PROPOSAL DEADLINE – Tuesday, December 31, 2019

 

Following this date, a selection process will occur, including presentation opportunities for a shortlist of candidates. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will then be established with the chosen charity.
