Abbotsford Community Foundation has launched its first Alan & Vivian Trethewey Youth Philanthropy Award. We are looking for nominations of individual youth or groups of youth ages 12 to 23 who have raised funds or donated time in the last year to worthwhile causes.
The Rotary Club of Chilliwack is very happy to announce it is auctioning off a pair of 4 day passes to the 2016 Masters Golf Tournament. All net proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Foundation. The Masters will take place April 7-10 in Augusta, Georgia.
The auction will be open to all Rotarians, family and friends and we urge you to pass the word out to all the golfers in your life. The Auction opens on October 13 and closes on November 3, at 4:00pm.
Here is how it works: Bids are sent to ianmeissner@gmail.com. As bids start coming in, an email will be sent to all participants to update them on the current highest bid. The auction will be open for bidding until 4:00 pm November 3.
After 4:00 pm on November 3, all participants will be informed of the highest bid amount. They will then have till 4:00 pm on November 4th to email their final bid.
After 4:00 p.m. November 4th, the bids will be reviewed to determine a winning bid. If the highest bids are within $100 of each other, the bidders will be contacted and be given an opportunity to participate in a live auction by phone. The live phone auction will then determine a winner.
During the bidding process all participants names will only be known to Ian, the Chilliwack Club President and Foundation Chair.
The four-day passes are very difficult to obtain (many would say impossible) and are coveted around the golfing world. We've had great success in the past with the Masters Auction, so make sure to spread the word to your fellow Rotarians, friends and relatives.

You and the members of your Rotary club are invited to the Rotary Day of Dialogue in Vancouver on November 21, 2015.
WHAT IS IT? The Rotary Day of Dialogue is a unique opportunity for Rotarians to come together and share ideas on how to grow membership, increase service and expand knowledge of Rotary.
There will be no presentations or lectures. Each Initiator will speak for 5 minutes to challenge the audience. There will then be 30 minutes of discussion and sharing of ideas under the coordination of a moderator.

Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Dialogue uses dialogue to generate communication around challenging topics. The venue encourages dialogue, learning and engagement.. The Wosk Centre is a dramatic and inspiring space designed for dialogue and interaction, featuring natural light from the 16-foot heritage windows and a magnificent 26-foot coffered heritage ceiling. Five concentric tiers provide generous seating in leather chairs for 154 delegates, with a built-in microphone at every seat. Each Rotary delegate at the Day of Dialogue will have their own microphone and an opportunity to discuss, listen, learn and take action.

The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a series of fast-paced, interactive, one-day courses offered to refine a Rotarian's leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge in Rotary. Courses are fun, topical, interactive, and geared toward busy business, professional and community leaders who want to be more effective leaders in their vocation and Rotary club and more knowledgeable Rotarians. RLI is offered over 3 different sessions and at times a graduate course is offered. Rotarians must take the sessions in order beginning with Session 1. Youth Adventures In Leadership (YAIL) is open to youth between that ages of 15-17 and all costs are paid by a sponsoring Rotary Club. This three day leadership camp takes place at a facility near White Rock, BC. Participants learn how to become well rounded individuals with increased perspective and enthusiasm for growth who will be able to make informed decisions in their lives.
