New District 5050 Treasurer:
Beginning next week, January 19th, Carlye Gillespie, CPA of Archer Halliday, Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors will be your new District Treasurer. This will be with the added bonus that the firm's Rotarian Bernadette Halliday has herself been a past District Treasurer. Carlye is located in Bellingham WA and is a member of the Bellingham Bay Rotary Club.

Rotary Leadership Institute
January 30th in Mount Vernon and March 19th in Surrey
The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a series of fast-paced, interactive, one-day courses offered to refine a Rotarian's leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge in Rotary.  Courses are fun, topical, interactive, and geared toward busy business, professional and community leaders who want to be more effective leaders in their vocation and Rotary club and more knowledgeable Rotarians.  RLI is offered over 3 different sessions and at times a graduate course is offered.  Rotarians must take the sessions in order beginning with Session 1.

YAIL – Youth Adventure In Leadership
January 22-24, 2016
Youth Adventures In Leadership (YAIL) is open to youth between that ages of 15-17 and all costs are paid by a sponsoring Rotary Club. This three day leadership camp takes place at a facility near White Rock, BC. Participants learn how to become well rounded individuals with increased perspective and enthusiasm for growth who will be able to make informed decisions in their lives. Long lasting friendships are also made at the camp. Registration is open now at www.yail.org

2016 District Grant Seminars
(February 6 OR February 20)
Every club in District 5050 wishing to apply for matching grants for service projects (both local and international) is required by Rotary International to qualify by having members attend a Grants Seminar every year.
 
Topics included will be Purpose, Grant Management, Successful Grant Projects, Stewardship, Qualification, Designing a Project, Applying for and Implementing a Grant, Oversight and Reporting, and Memorandum of Understanding. Attendees will learn about District Designated Funds, District Grants, Global Grants and Packaged Grants.
 
A minimum of two people from each club must attend a Grants Management Seminar, and one of these must be the President-Elect.  
 
There will be two seminars and both seminars will cover the same format, and club members may choose either one to attend.  Each club shall have the option of sending a third person.
 
If a club wishes to send more than three, please contact District Foundation Chair Larry Jubie at lwjubie31@hotmail.com
 
Doors will be open at 8:00 a.m. with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the seminar is scheduled to run no later than 3:00 p.m. Lunch is included.

Hello District 5050 Rotarians!
 
Plans for the 2016 District Conference, Power Up Rotary, are well under way.  This year’s Conference will be held Friday, April 29th to Sunday, May 1 at Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, WA.  On Thursday, April 28th an optional fun day of golf at Loomis Trails Golf Course and a pre-conference dinner open to all are also being planned.
