In 1962, the Abbotsford Rotary club provided the funding for the first airshow at our airport. The event was called the Abbotsford Rotary Air Show.
Our connection to this internationally recognized community event run deep.
This year, the Air Show has asked our club to provide volunteers for Hanger 13 again.
For new club members (or old club members who have never participated) Hanger 13 is a nightly social event for all Air Show performers, ground crews and volunteers. Volunteers are need each night from Thursday Aug 11 until Sunday Aug 14.
Volunteers drive cars of performers, ground crew and volunteers to local hotels (no Langley hotels this year) while they enjoy Abbotsford hospitality. Later in the evening, we transport personnel to their hotels or billets.
A shift typically runs from approximately 8:30 pm until 1:30 am
Volunteering for a shift requires that you consume no alcohol 24 hours before your shift and that you have a valid BC driver’s license and ICBC coverage. You will NOT be required to use your own car, although some club members prefer to do so and we are trying to arrange for that this year.
Club membership requires each of us to provide one community service volunteer experience each year and this event qualifies for that.
In addition, each club member who volunteers will get one club attendance make up AND the extremely valuable Presidential Pardon from the Sgt at Arms.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING MORE INFORMATION OR CAN SERVE OUR CLUB AND COMMUNITY BY VOLUNTEERING, PLEASE CONTACT BRUCE BECK AT bbb1771@shawbiz.ca directly.

Rotary Leadership Institute
The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a series of fast-paced, interactive, one-day courses offered to refine a Rotarian's leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge in Rotary. Courses are fun, topical, interactive, and geared toward busy business, professional and community leaders who want to be more effective leaders in their vocation and Rotary club and more knowledgeable Rotarians.
RLI is offered over 3 different sessions and at times a Graduate course is offered. Rotarians must take the sessions in order beginning with Part 1.
Registration is now open and will be closed September 18th
