Abbotsford Youth Commission
May 20, 2025
Bev Olfert has been part of the Abbotsford Youth Commission for many (many!) years. She first joined as a volunteer, then stepped into the role of Program Coordinator, and eventually became Executive Director. This August, she’ll be celebrating an incredible 27 years with AYC!
Her entire career has been rooted in the social service sector, with a heart for working with youth—though these days, you’re more likely to find her behind a desk or heading to a meeting. Bev is deeply passionate about community and loves supporting people of all ages in building meaningful connections.
The Abbotsford Youth Commission (AYC) is all about creating spaces for youth to hang out, get involved, and be themselves. From fun and inclusive programs to leadership and volunteer gigs, AYC helps youth connect, grow, and shine. With free and low-cost programs, welcoming youth centres, and a team of supportive youth workers who listen, encourage, and mentor, AYC meets young people where they’re at. Every youth is seen, supported, and celebrated. Whether it’s through recreation, learning, or simply being together, AYC helps young people build confidence and find their place in the community.
